Fees For Building a Website | What I Need From You
 

Web Construction
$50.00 for the first page, $20.00 for each additional page. 
Uploading to your web host included in work order at no additional charge. 

1.  Decide on information to be included and number of pages: - More indepth instructions...

  • Personal Web Page: Home Page, General Information, Album (may have up to six photos per page), Hobbies, Pets,  Interests, Favorite Links, Other
  • Business Site:  Welcome, About Us (for businesses, will include contact information), General Information, Product or Services page, Special Offers or coupon, Order Form for mail order, Favorite Links, Other
(You supply digitized text and/or links (URLs) - Typing fee may apply if text is not digitized and is more than 1 letter sized page typewritten per web page.)

2.  You supply digital image(s) - Photos, pictures, clip art, banner, buttons, lines, etc. - More indepth instructions...

  • Pages with lots of photographs are slow to load (album pages, for example). There will be a limit of six   photographs per page. See photo or scanning to see fees I charge for images you do not supply in digitized format. 
5.  Choose style for each page: - More indepth instructions...
  • View some other websites I have done
  • View some other sites on the web to get some ideas
  • or create your own style. 
6.  Be thinking about any enhancements or additional services that you want. (These can be added later.)

7.  Use Price Chart to fill in Order Form and/or contact me.

Web Enhancements

1.  Links to online hosted guestbooks, message boards, etc.  - $10.00 per link
2. Each photo I supply with my digital camera - $10.00 for each photo session plus $2.00 for each picture used. 
          (Charges for travel expense and time may apply. No traveling done 50 miles of home.)
3. Scanning - $5.00 basic then $2.00 for each picture I scan.
4.  Maintaining site - optional

  • a.  Basic - $10.00 per month - Responding to e-mail to webmaster (e-mail about products or services will be sent to your e-mail), making changes required by host site, backing up files, updating contact information 
  • b.  Basic Plus - $30.00 per month - Making up to 15 requested changes each month with pictures and/or text  digitized. Examples - Replacing 1 picture = 1 change, replacing 1 picture description = 1 change. More than 15 changes in any month will cost $3.00 for each additional change.  Use of camera or scanner will result in additional charges.  (See chart
Additional pages or additional items to a page can be done whether I maintain your site or you maintain your own.

     The steps below are written for businesses and organizations, but most of the steps will hold true for family or individual sites as well.
     If you want a simple, one page website with no graphics, you need only look at the information about the text and web hosting.

Text and Number of Pages: 
First, you need to decide what information (text) you want on your website. You might want a simple website that is very similar to what you would put in an advertisement in a newspaper. You might want to include much more information. Here is a checklist of some information you might want to include:
  1. Name, address, phone number(s), e-mail, other contact information
  2. Welcome message - slogan
  3. Description of business or organization
  4. Location description or details
  5. Description of main products or services
  6. Department heads / Officers of organization - Contact information 
  7. Annual events 
  8. Beliefs, goals, purpose, etc.
  9. Affiliations - with larger companies or organizations
  10. Mail order form
  11. URL's of other related websites
Decide how many pages you will need and what you want on each page.
I will need to know what information you want included. It can be handwritten, typed, saved to  a disc, or sent by e-mail. (Limit on non digitized text - one letter size page per web page or there will be an additional fee for typing.)

If you want me to choose the design of the website, want only one page, and do not want to use graphics, special effects, or enhancements; then the text, the web host information (See below) , the completed work order form, and fifty percent of the total price will be all I need to get started. 

If you design the style of your website, you need to make a rough draft showing where you want the information.

If you want a multi-page site, I'll need to know how many pages you want and what you want on each page.

Images: (Optional) 
Gather the images you want used. You may already have some images to use. There are also websites which offer free images for use on personal or non-profit websites.  Click here to see a list of those websites. I can take digital pictures, scan images for an additional fee
I'll need your images on a disc or e-mailed as an attachment. They need to be in either .gif or .jpg format. We'll need to discuss arrangements if you want pictures taken or scanned.

Style: 
You can choose a basic style for your website or you can leave that up to me.  You can choose a style from some other pages I've done or create your own. 
If you choose the style from one of my pages, the URL's of the pages in describing the basic style you want used.

First Viewing
Once the website has been finished and I have received the next 25% of the total purchase price, I will send you the URL where you can view it.  Minor changes will be made and mistakes will be corrected. You will be notified when the corrections have been made so that you can approve it.
I will need to know if there are mistakes that need to be corrected or what minor changes you would like made as soon as possible after you are notified of the URL to view the website.

Website Hosting: 
There are several sites that will host your site for free because the sites they host will have banner or pop-up adds. You can also upgrade to a paid plan on these sites and there will be no banner or pop-up adds. Your ISP may provide web hosting. 
You can register or I can do it for you if you supply the needed information. Be sure you choose a site that will let you upload files.

Enhancements: (Optional) 
After your site is uploaded, you can register to use some special "web tools". The code for these can then be added to your pages. One site that has many of these tools is Bravenet. The will be an additional fee for adding the code.
If I put the code in your pages, I will need the information they send you when you register. You can forward the e-mail to me.

Final Steps: 
 Once the site has been approved and the final bill including any enhancements that you have chosen has been paid, I will upload it to your website host or send it to you on a floppy disk. The website becomes yours and you have the copyright on any of the material that I prepared for you. 
If you want me to upload the website, I will need the URL of your host, your user name, and password. If you do not contract with me to maintain your site, you can change the password after the site is uploaded.  Contact me for more information.

Maintaining the Site:
If you contract with me to maintain your site, I will need to have access to the site. Otherwise, you can change the password.
If you contract with me to maintain your website, I will need the current password and any information that is sent to you from the web host.

Terms and conditions:

50% of total price is due when order is placed. 
25% of total price is due when project is completed. 
The remainder is due after project has been viewed and approved and before it is uploaded to your site or sent by floppy disk.

Any additions made to website after it has been approved and received will be payable before service is rendered.

 
Custom Presentations or Web Lessons

Lesson or Business Presentation:

  • PowerPoint Presentation: 
    • Picture only presentation - You supply pictures - $15.00 up to 10 pages. $1.00 each  additional page.
      • Examples of pricing:
        • Picture only presentation with 8 pages = $15.00 + traveling fee or S/H
        • Picture only with 12 pages = $15.00 + $2.00 = $17.00 + traveling fee or S/H
    • Basic PowerPoint  (Text and transitions only. You supply text.)  $20.00 for lesson or presentation up to 10 pages.  $1.00 for each page over 10.
      • Examples of pricing:
        • PowerPoint presentation with 8 pages = $20.00 + traveling fee or S/H. 
        • PowerPoint presentation with 12 pages = $20.00 + $3.00 = $23.00 + traveling fee or S/H 
    • Basic PowerPoint  (You supply text and images (optional). I choose clip art, sounds and transitions)  $25.00 for lesson or presentation up to 10 pages.  $1.50 for each additional page.
      • Examples of pricing:
        • PowerPoint presentation with 8 pages = $25.00 + traveling fee or S/H. 
        • PowerPoint presentation with 12 pages = $25.00 + $3.00 = $28.00 + traveling fee or S/H

    • Traveling Fee - Work done at your site on your machine- $10.00 + $.50 per mile from my home traveling fee. No traveling done beyond 50 mile radius of my home.
    • Work done at my site - $5.00 for a floppy disc, shipping and handling or $7.50 burned on a CD, shipping and handling.
    • Terms and conditions:
      • 50% of total cost is due when order is placed.  (Non-refundable)
      • 25% of total cost is due when project is completed. (Non refundable)

    •  Do you have an activity or lesson that you use, but you don't have the time to convert it to a lesson using technology? I can help. Please email me with your ideas of what you would like to do. 
    • Examples of  Student Lessons and Fees:
      • WebQuest: 
        • You send the text and up to eight URL's. 
          • I prepare the html document - $25.00 
          • Adding images you supply - $ .50 for each image 
          • Adding more URL's - $ .50 each URL over eight
          • Plus S/H or traveling fee.

      • Web Hunt:
        • You send the text and up to eight URL's. 
          • I prepare the html document - $20.00

      • Charts for students to fill in: (Weather, characteristics of elements, famous battles, comparing poetry styles) 
        • You send rough draft with column headings, text and up to eight URL's. 
          • I prepare the html document containing the chart - $15.00
          • Adding images you supply - $ .50 for each image
          • Plus S/H or traveling fee

      • When the project is finished, I will upload it and give you the code and directions to download it to your computer for approval.
